A strong round of thunderstorms passed through the Bradley,Bourbonnais and Kankakee area late Monday night and Tuesday morning. The storm damaged or destroyed many large trees in the Historic Riverview area of Kankakee. Below are pictures of the damage near Cobb Park and the Kankakee River in the Riverview neighborhood of Kankakee.

Can you post more pics of the storm damage from August 4th and 5th? My parents live on South Chicago in the Riverview Historic District. Their home is on the river. They are still without power because the trees fell directly on the exterior fuse box and pulled the electric wiring out of the box. My mom said that the live wires are still dangling in their back yard. The damage is extensive and another tree fell on their car. They live across from Cobb park. 1103 S. Chicago
Ave. My parents are celebrating their anniversary today. Nice. Thanks again for the pics. I am in
California and haven't found any other coverage on the net. Regards, Barb
Barb, Today they were reporting 14,000 were still out of power and that some areas may be out for a few more days.
Here is one of the articles from The Daily Journal today, you can check out there website for updates

Tina, No Problem, thanks for stopping by!
Did not realize a storm could make my home famous. My wife Stephanie and I live in the three story home pictured above with the tree stuck on the porch roof. Fortunately, no one (including pets) was hurt and all the damage was external. Amazingly, the front porch roof held up the massive tree branch without any sagging. These old homes were really built well! Anyone looking to buy? Just kidding, Joe.
PS. For all rubberneckers. Home is at corner of Cobb and Sheridan in Kankakee.
Joe and Stephanie, Thanks for stopping by. You're right they don't build new homes today like the old houses in the Riverview neighborhood, glad to hear everyone was OK!
